Cymraeg

“Living away from Wales here in Scotland, in what was once known as Yr Hen Ogledd, has deepened my love for my homeland and my language. Surrounded by a culture with shared roots and traditions, I feel the Celtic connections strongly, yet it also makes me appreciate more than ever the sound, rhythm and warmth of Welsh. Distance brings things closer: the songs, the words and the memories travel with me, and in every performance I carry a part of Wales with me. Here in the Old North, that sense of hiraeth turns into pride — pride in the language, in the tradition, and in being able to represent Wales wherever I live.”

The beautiful and ancient Welsh language. Far more than just a means of communication, Cymraeg is a living testament to Wales' rich history, vibrant culture, and enduring identity. Sioned is deeply committed to championing this unique linguistic heritage, not only through her performances but also by embracing and promoting Welsh-language repertoire in contemporary music and opera.
